Made it!
It has been an epic few days on the track. When they said the track was open to 4WD they meant high clearance.
We had a few issues with some long and deep water crossings, and a particularly long bog hole finally did us in.
We marked a plimsol line on the back of Gemma's leg so when she walked through the water I could gauge how deep it was (see photo).
With more rain forecast we will probably leave town on Friday Morning, before they even jump in the first race.
It's not so bad, the journey was the adventure, and there is only so much of a gigantic B&S style event I can take. Plus we still have to get home. We won't be going back down the Birdsville, the Plenty Highway to Alice Springs is closed, so its further east into QLD then down to Broken Hill, to Port Augusta, and back over the Nullarbor.
If we don't leave before the rain we will probably get stranded here for at least another week, as all the roads will close again, particularly to our little Subaru.
The flight over Lake Eyre was very good, got a good look at the Coopers as well.
